Former Manchester City youth player Jeremy Wisten has died aged 17 as Raheem Sterling joined Manchester City in paying tribute.

The Premier League club took to Twitter on Sunday evening to share the tragic news.

City's official account wrote: "The Manchester City family are saddened to learn of the passing of former academy player Jeremy Wisten.

"We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family.

"Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time."

Sterling quote tweeted the post with praying and flower emojis.

Aymeric Laporte replied: "Horrible news... RIP young man."

The cause of death is unknown at this stage and Wisten's family are yet to release a statement.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds to 'give him the best send off he deserves'.
