80 Boko Haram commanders, suppliers surrender in Borno

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, has said 80 members of the Boko Haram sect, comprising commanders, foot soldiers and suppliers of logistics have surrendered to troops in Borno State.
Usman said in a statement on Thursday that those who surrendered were confirmed to have participated in several attacks on Bama, Borno State.
He said, “In a landmark event today, 80 Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered en mass to troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, in Bama, Borno State.
“The terrorists, among whom were commanders, suppliers and foot soldiers, confirmed to have partook in several terrorists attacks especially on Bama town, Borno State, surrendered as a result of the intense heat and continuous offensive action embarked on by troops.”
He said the only option available to the insurgents was to surrender as the Army, the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies were committed to the actualisation of the Presidential deadline to the military to end the Boko Haram menace in three months.
Usman urged other suspected terrorists to “also surrender or face total elimination” as it was compulsory for the security forces to ensure the enthronement of peace in the area.
The Acting Army spokesman called on Nigerians to provide necessary information that could be used to apprehend all suspected terrorists in the area.
