Immigration parades 64 illegal immigrants in Ogun

The Nigeria Immigration Service in Ogun State on Friday paraded 64 illegal immigrants arrested during a raid in Obafemi Owode and Sagamu local government areas of the state.

The Immigration Comptroller, Mrs. Victoria Isang, told journalists in Abeokuta that the arrest was part of the command’s efforts to rid the state of illegal immigrants and enhance security. She said the illegal aliens were 40 Beninois and 24 Togolese.

She explained that the illegal immigrants were arrested after successful raids on September 8 and 10, adding that they would be repatriated to their countries after necessary security screening and profiling.

She said, “Once these illegal foreign nationals, who might have slipped in through any of the numerous unapproved routes are apprehended, the command wastes no time in repatriating them back to their countries after ascertaining their various nationalities.”

Isang added that the command had doubled its commitment as a reaction to the security challenges presently confronting the country.

She said, “We have doubled our proactive approach to matters of security by increasing our presence along the expansive border lines of the state with the Republic of Benin through relentless patrols.”
