Gridlock as four die in Sagamu-Benin road crash

No fewer than four persons have been confirmed dead in a
multiple crash on the Ogun State end of the Sagamu-Benin
Expressway.

Our correspondent learnt that a diesel-laden tanker on its
way to Lagos, crashed and spilled its content on the
highway on Monday night.

Five vehicles, which were said to be on their way towards
the Sagamu area, reportedly lost control when they ran over
the spilled diesel.

The vehicles included a vehicle of cement manufacturer,
Dangote Cement, which skidded off the slippery road and
crashed into a ditch.

Another truck, carrying tyres, also fell, spilling its contents
on the road.

This led to a gridlock on the expressway as all the vehicles
on the highway were diverted to a single lane.
