Roads Leading to Eagle Square Closed
Ahead of today’s presidential inauguration in Abuja, all routes leading to the Eagle Square, venue of the event, have been closed and cordoned off.
The roads were closed on Thursday afternoon apparently for security reasons.
Motorists were diverted to alternative routes, outside of the Eagle Square’s area.
The blocked roads were being manned by Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIO, and officials of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC).
The development led to heavy traffic along the diverted routes.
At the Eagle Square proper, all arrangements had been put in place by Thursday evening.
Stern-looking security operatives took positions in strategic locations around the area.
No stone is being left unturned to ensure that there is no security breach.
President-elect, General MuhammaduBuhari will formally take over the reins of power from the outgoing President, DrGoodluck Jonathan today.
