Donâ€™t Appoint Two Ministers for a Ministry, NLC Advises Buhari
He gave the advice in Kano on Thursday citing the appointments of two ministers for each ministry by former administrations as part of reasons for high cost of governance in the country.
According to him, the funds spent on each of the ministers, their aides and other officials are waste of public resources.
â€˜â€™The money paid to ministers and their aided should have been used for developmental projectsâ€™â€™, he said.
He said unnecessary appointments at national, state and local government levels must be avoided so as to conserve funds for development.
â€œThe incoming President had lamented over the high cost of governance in the country and stressed that such must be reduced in order to move the country forward.
â€˜â€™So the money being spent on them should be used to improve the well-being of Nigeriansâ€, he added.
Ado said it would be wrong for lawmakers to fix their salary, adding that the only body legal responsible for that is the National Salaries and Wages Commission.
â€œPoliticians fix their salaries; they donâ€™t want the public to know.
â€œWe are hoping that if the incoming administration comes into office, such things will become a thing of the past,â€™â€™ he said.
