He played a starring role for Diego
Simeone's side as they pipped
moneybags rivals Real Madrid and
Barcelona to the domestic title and
eliminated parent club Chelsea in
the Champions League semi-finals.
Courtois says he was sure of his
future before that European clash at
Stamford Bridge, but feels the
situation may have changed in light
of Atleti's win at the Bridge.
“My future seemed clear but then
we played in the Champions
League,” he told Belgian newspaper
La Derniere Heure .
“And yes, Mourinho called me before
the [final League] game against
Barcelona.
“What we talked about stays
between us. I have a two-year
contract with Chelsea, so in principle
I will be there for training, then
we’ll talk.
“This isn’t the time to think about a
transfer. There’s a World Cup at
stake.”
